Fall fashion for warm weather
When you think of Fall and fashion you may have visions of wool coats, bulky sweaters, boots, and flannel shirts. But what if you live in a warmer climate? Or are planning a Fall or early winter vacation to somewhere that is not quite cool enough for your typical fall/winter looks.
Fall in Florida doesn’t really start until Late October or early November so while many are preparing for winter we are barely breaking out our sweaters!
If you still want to enjoy the look and feel of fall without sweating your face off, take a look at some of my personal favorites for those comfortable warm Autumn days, and slightly chilly nights!
For my personal Florida Fall style, I have broken my looks down into 3 elements that I feel define a fall look:
3 elements of Fall style:
- Textures
- Layers
- Colors
If you have read my previous post you know how much I love hats! In the Fall I break out some of the hats that don’t really get much summer love…These textures are perfect for when that humidity drops and the temps get more comfortable.
My newest Fall obsession may not be everyone’s favorite,
But….they are a favorite for me!!!
Short sleeve lightweight sweaters, and turtleneck tees. They bring all of the Fall vibes, without the long sleeves and heavy fabrics!
With my love of brooches (see previous blog post) These tops are perfect for displaying a bit of fun flair on the neckline!!
Banana Republic lightweight teal sweater. David Paul skirt. Green flower brooch. This shade of green makes me very happy! Especially when paired with floral denim from Rue 21 and a butterfly brooch! Nine West flutter sleeve sweater. Dark plum LOFT corduroy pants. Gold and silver tone leaf wreath brooch. Banana Republic short sleeve tee with puff sleeves, Quilled butterfly brooch. This rust red color is a fantastic Fall favorite.

Whats so special about Florida Fall?
Below are a few of reasons, from an article from Onlyinyourstate/Florida click on the link for the full list.
- We finally get a break from the lawnmower.
- Temperatures may not fall much, but any little bit counts.
- Folks who want to save money can start opening the windows and cutting off the A/C.
- We may not have chilly fall weather, but we have everything else.
- Manatees live in Florida year-round, but the best time to see them begins in the fall.
- It’s finally getting cool enough that we can start enjoying the Great Outdoors again.
- We can enjoy our favorite fall colors without ever leaving the beach!
Once it finally starts to get a little chilly in the early mornings and evenings its time to break out the scarves and layers! OK…This may not be until December, but it still feels like Autumn to me!
I love scarves for just a touch of extra warmth! (blog post about those coming soon.) I wear them in all seasons, but they are always a good Fall staple.
Blazers and denim jackets are some of my favorite layering pieces.
White House Black Market blazer with pink tee and dark maroon pants. Silver flats. Pale gray Elevenses wool blazer with hot pink Susana Monaco top and NY&Co pants. Lightweight NY&Co. sweater with white denim pants and classic Calvin Klein denim jacket. Dusty blue Clarks ankle boots. Lightweight Lou and Grey purple sweater with lavender Banana Republic pants, Calvin Klein denim jacket.
I wear a lot of bright colors in my wardrobe, but my love for the dark rich colors of Autumn is not going away any time soon! I will always keep a selection of these colors in my wardrobe.
Orange and brown are some of my favorite Fall colors, and really just a favorite color combo in general (see my previous blog post)
Blazers are ALWAYS in season! This red and blue textured Tabitha blazer below looks dark maroon from afar, and that is another favorite Fall color!! Paired with Banana Republic dark wash boot cut jeans.
Maroon bird pattern tee. Lightweight plaid in some fantastic Fall colors….who needs flannel?
And yes, I will wear white after Labor Day.
